Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year!!!
Southern Dutchess Toastmasters began the New Year right by welcoming new members! Please welcome Kari, Debby, Pamela and Richard to the club! We look forward to having them join in the fun at our upcoming meetings!
We had a special appearance by Janice P. at our January 9th meeting. She gave us a persuasive speech about resolutions and goal setting. We learned about changes she was making in her life, goals she wants to accomplish this year and how we can apply the lessons she learned to our own lives. Then Richard led us in a unique Table Topics session focused on an old investment game. It was much fun for all.
Our January 16th meeting featured Bill telling us about a few of his favorite things. He caught our attention right away, but stole the show when he got to the fried chicken. Even though it was just a picture on a slide, our mouths started watering from the description. Due to unexpected illness, Table Topics was done with question cards (Toastmasters are always prepared!) We had some interesting questions, like what national park would you work in (Bill said Fort Pickens), besides your own birthday, what would be a good day to be born (Richard said July 4th) and what are 5 things that make you happy (Rob said pets, house, cooking, rewards of work and pizza).
We look forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting: Feb. 6th, 7pm at Cross Court Tennis Club, Wappingers Falls, NY!

SDTM November 21st Meeting

We had another fabulous meeting at Cross Court Tennis Club, our new smoke-free meeting place. What did you miss? Well, Janice led the meeting with a Thanksgiving theme. Rob was our speaker, doing the “Sell a Product” project from the specialty speeches manual. He successfully sold ‘The Rack’ to the entire room. The demonstration was amazing!! Trishla led a holiday based Table Topics session on holiday ‘drama’. We heard all kinds of stories including turkey fires and hospital trips. Finally, Bill gave an excellent evaluation of Rob’s speech.
Our next meeting is December 5th, 7pm at Cross Court Tennis Club. Hope to see you there!
